The Ultimate MS Mobility Course

This is a comprehensive 1-day course on gait rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis, with an online webinar component. The rehab world is changing for those living with MS. Studies indicate that exercise can positively impact the progression of the disease, especially for individuals who are newly diagnosed. Often a category of MS that many rehab professionals are not currently treating.

This course covers the physiological challenges that people living with MS face when trying to exercise. You will learn how to manage fatigue, neuromuscular fatigue, heat sensitivity, and temporary symptom exacerbation. More importantly, this course will provide you with practical gait rehab knowledge that you can immediately incorporate into clinical practice. Providing comprehensive teaching for all mobility levels, from the minimally impaired to those only able to walk a few steps with an aide. The education is delivered via a combination of lectures, group case study work and practical demonstrations.

Objectives

On completion of this 1 day practical course you will be able to:

  • Provide safe exercise volumes and intensities for people living with MS throughout the disease course
  • Educate and support people living with MS to proactively manage fatigue, neuromuscular fatigue and heat sensitivity
  • Identify common gait impairments present in MS throughout the disease course
  • Provide a range of practical treatment strategies to improve functional mobility
  • Be confident in delivering rehabilitation from high functioning to assisted mobility
  • Understand what causes knee hyperextension and how to treat it effectively
